For some reason today I looked at the different Music Conservatories and schools. Even though I'm four years away from making those decissions I wanted to see what their requirements are for the audition. Cello Sonata and Cello Concertos and Scales basically. I looked at Julliard just for kicks. I would love to go there but I'm not sure I could make it. If keep learning at this rate I'm learning at right now, then I will be the next Yo-Yo Ma but life never goes as you plan. Another good option would be Eastman. Luke on cellojourney went their and he is one of my favorite cellists of all time. But Yo-Yo went to Julliard and he is my favorite cellist of all time. Ohh well. I should tell Mrs. Gould the orchestra teacher that I want to become a soloist as wellas the counselers who schedule me into classes. Enough of this topic

I played the cello today with my endpin out more than usual and it really helped. I may have had my bow closer to the fingerboard (not too close mind you) but I could hear what my cello actually sounded like to the listener several feet away. I sound a lot better than I thought I did.

Yet I am puzzled. In the Short story Flowers for Algernon a mentally handicapped man gets increased intelligence and becomes a genius. Soon he loses all of his intelligence and has only more shame for once being smart and now dumb. I'm puzzled because I feel that at my rate of learning I may lose some of it quickly. Keeping my momentum going is the only thing I can do for now.

Hooray! Cello Slump gone! I have been kicking serious cello butt recently. Last night I played the Popper Gavotte pretty well. I then went on to play the Bach Suites pretty darn good too. The Swan was fine and the Shroeder Etudes were good. I love being able to feel good about my playing it gives me confidence to fulfill my dream of becoming a solo cellist. My school orchestra was sounding nice too. We played through all of our pieces. "Lord of the Dance" is a song were playing and this week it sounded awful until today. Brandeburg Concerto No. 3 was also sounding more musical. (I'll have to post a playlist each week to keep you guys up to date on whats going on)

I plan on plaaying the Popper Gavotte No. 2 for Solo and Ensemble. I played for an orchestra assistant in class the other day and he was very impressed. Considering the other cellists hardly ever move out of first position and I'm playing a piece that has multiple clefs I would say thats good.

Haydn Concerto in C. Ughhh Such an awesome piece I can't wait for the sheet music I ordered to come in. I want to start taking this piece apart and make it my own. Fun Fun

So in about 2 hours there is a middle school dance. Should be okay. I'm not going with anyone but i keep laughing to myself because my ex girlfriend has a new boyfriend. He's a spaz. Hahahahaha. Downgrade definetly. Whatever she never listened to me anyways. She only cared about herself.

So whatever happens at the dance should be interesting. I probably won't dance with a girl but if someone asks me I may agree.

Well thats it for today. Stay beautiful baby!

Cello My Life

So Cello is my life basically. I type this listening to Yo Yo Ma's new album Appasionato (which is really good too) Today I'm in kind of a cello slump. I thought I had just come out one too. Turns out I was wrong. I got in the slump after my lesson. My teacher is good but I just was feeling out of it. The chair she has me play in is too short for me I think. I thought I was doing really well this week on the cello, guess not.

I suppose I should tell you I'm a Middle School student who plays the (imagine this) cello. I want to be a profeesional cellist when I grow up but days like these I wonder if that will happen. Ugghhh my back is killing me. I'm reading a book "New Directions in Cello Playing, maybe ity can help my back probelms.

I missed a lot of school last week because I was really sick. Now I'm missing work and don't want to make it up! Grr I hate P.E. At least its my 2nd class so I can get it out of the way.

I getting to be random so I'm going to sign off.

PS Everyone check out cellojourney.com Luke is the bomb!!!
